Set Up Controller Polling and SNMP

Follow this procedure to set up the Vision ARC Controller to receive location data if your network uses CMX version 10.6.3 (or higher) and you do not have the CMX Advanced license installed.

  • You may use this procedure, too, when your network does not use CMX.
  • If your network uses CMX 10.6.2 or 10.6.3 (with the CMX Advanced license), follow the steps in Set Up a Northbound Notification Listener.
  • To determine your CMX version and whether the Advanced license is installed, log in to your CMX console. Then select Manage > Licenses.

If the CMX Advanced license isn’t listed, continue with this procedure.

  1. Locate and run the app configutil.exe in the sofia server.

The default location is C:\Program Files\AiRISTA Flow\Sofia AiRISTA Flow RTLS Controller\bin but the path for your server will vary depending on your sofia installation.

  2. At the User Account Control window, click Yes to continue to the app.

    3. In the Controller Host IP field, enter the IP address of the network controller.
    4. Complete the SNMPv2c or SNMPv3 section, depending on your network’s SNMP version.

      • For SNMPv2c, enter the key in the Community String field. (You should be able to get it from your network administrator.)
      • For SNMPv3, enter the following information (also available from your network administrator):
        • User Name
        • Authentication
        • Password
        • Authentication Protocol
        • Privacy Password
        • Privacy Protocol (DES, 3DES, AES128, etc.)
In either case, click Next when you’re finished. The Setup Cisco Mobility Services Engine settings screen is displayed.

    5. Click Apply to save all settings and continue. (You do not need to enter any information on this screen.)

The ARC Controller service restarts. There is a brief reset time when the ARC Controller and Vision are down until the service has restarted.

You are now finished setting up Controller Polling and SNMP.
